Chicago Events - GoSantaGo 5K 2015 Fun Run in Burnham Park
Get out into that crisp autumn air and run for a cause! And yes, there is a theme, so prepare your costume accordingly. GoSantaGo 5K is a charity fun run hosted by Gilda’s Club Chicago, which supports those living with cancer, plus their families and friends. It’s an affiliate of Cancer Support Community, a worldwide network of clubs, nonprofits and online resources. Gilda’s Club is named after Gilda Radner, one of the original cast members of the long-running TV show Saturday Night Live. She passed away in 1989, after being diagnosed 4 years prior with ovarian cancer.
GoSantaGo takes place on Sunday, Dec. 6, 2015, at Burnham Park, 5491 S. Shore Drive, Chicago. The start time is a reasonable 9 am. Registering in advance is $45, and $50 for day-of registration. Participants will receive a goody bag, which features a customized Santa long-sleeve shirt, a hat or both. You’ll also get your race bib and recyclable timing chips. Timing chips should be attached to the runner’s shoe or ankle. (Don’t wrinkle or fold it if you want an accurate time reading!)
If you plan to walk the race, please start behind the runners. Strollers are allowed, but unfortunately dogs are not. The top 3 female and male finishers will receive a “Santa Hustle” mug. There will also be prizes in the categories of Best Group Costumes and Best Individual Santa Costume. Taking public transportation to the race is encouraged.
