Things to Do in Chicago - Chicago Holiday Shopping Destinations 2015
Tis the season…to go shopping! It’s no secret that Chicago is a popular destination for finding just what you want—both for yourself and for those special folks on your holiday gift list. Here at Best Western Grant Park, we thought it was time to revisit some of our favorite Chicago neighborhoods for all things retail.
Michigan Avenue aka The Magnificent Mile, is about 1 mile from the hotel. The 900 Shops, located at 900 North Michigan, is a bright, elegant indoor space with retailers like Coach and Michael Kors plus department store Bloomingdale’s. You’re sure to find something for everyone on your list.
Water Tower place is about 2 miles from our hotel. Explore more than 100 retailers at a variety of price points, plus dining and spa services. If you happen to be shopping with a 9-year-old lass, you might want to make reservations at American Girl Place for lunch. Honestly, it’s like a dream come true for that special girl in your life.
Block 37 is home to the Chicago Design Museum, plus stores and restaurants in a beautiful 5-story atrium. It’s walkable—you’ll be there in 30 minutes or so—20 minutes on the CTA Red line or 10 minutes if you drive. A classic Chicago shopping district is The Loop, particularly State Street. Head into Macy’s, a historic building that’s home to a 45-foot Christmas tree during the holidays, and windows and displays trimmed with great good cheer.
Have a lot of gifts to buy or need to watch your budget? Check out the outlets malls. Chicago Premium Outlets has more than 120 shops like J. Crew Factory and Aldo. Fashion Outlets of Chicago is home to Nieman Marcus Last Call and Saks Avenue Off 5th.
