Chicago Events & News - See Second City Improv All-Stars at Up Comedy Club
No two shows are ever alike when it comes to improvisational comedy. Chicago is famous as a proving ground for aspiring professional comedic actors, and for the amazing artists who emerge successfully like Tina Fey and Amy Poehler. You never know who’ll eventually be on TV shows like Saturday Night Live or breaking out on the big screen. You might actually be seeing history in the making when you get tickets to the Second City Improv All-Stars show, Monday, Mar. 7, 2016, 8 pm.
If you’re unfamiliar with the form, improv theater features actors who work in concert without a script and on the fly. It takes practice, but they make it look easy and fun. It’s always original and sometimes even interactive with the audience (you’ve been warned). Under the direction of Mick Napier, the shows cast includes Ryan Archibald, Jo Feldman, Peter Kim, Julia Marchiano, Adam Peacock, Kevin Sciretta and many others. It’s a tag team of laughs!
Improv All-Stars takes place at Up Comedy Club, 230 W. North Ave., 3rd floor, which features comedy 7 nights a week, including stand-up and sketch. It’s less than a 15-minute drive from Best Western Grant Park, and there’s metered street parking plus a couple of nearby parking garages. You can also take public transit, catching the Green Line L at Roosevelt station and transferring to the Brown Line at Clark/Lake. Tickets are $18-$28, and can be purchased on the Up Comedy Club website.
