Old and banged up ...

Old and banged up rooms, but ok to stay for the price (compared to all other hotels. Beds are comfy. The worst part for me is that the walls and windows do not block any sound. I got woken up by random sounds throughout the night, from cars with loud music on the street to train horns 😞

An okay stay at ...

An okay stay at a great location. You can tell this is an old hotel. It was built in the early 60s and renovated in 2017. I think it's past due for another renovation. The carpeting, walls, fixtures - are all outdated. The elevators are tiny and cramped. And there is literally no sound proofing at all. I could literally hear peoples' conversations as they were walking down the street below. I was on the fourth floor, corner room facing the park. And from there, it was a nice view of the park. The location is amazing and everything I wanted to see was within an hour or less walking distance. The room was nice and cold. Bed fairly comfortable. TV took a bit to figure out how to work. (I couldn't find the menu or channel guide, though I later discovered this was on a piece of paper in front of the tv.) The bathroom needs some work. My first shower, water was spraying out and over the shower door. I found it to be due to the showerhead not being fully screwed tight, so I fixed that for you. Also, the toilet ran constantly so I had to listen to that. Lighting in the bathroom was dim, too. And there was what felt like at least an inch step up at the door's threshold going into the bathroom. If you're not careful, that's just begging to stub your toe on. I had limited interaction with staff. Check in was easy and the valet took care of my car and had the same experience while checking out. No complaints there. While it was the perfect location, I really don't think I'd stay here again solely because of the street noise. Everything else were minor complaints, but that noise really made it hard to sleep.

Not young adult friendly!!! I ...

Not young adult friendly!!! I recently stayed at this hotel with a group of friends as a trip with my college run club. We came to Chicago to run in the Shamrock Shuffle. The location was great because it was right next to the race and was surrounded by things to do. However, the rooms had significant fire hazards. To enter one of our rooms you either had to squeeze between the bed and the wall or climb over the bed. The walls were also incredibly thin and you heard everything going on in the other rooms. However, the biggest issue with this hotel and the reason I will never stay at this hotel or any other Best Western again was due to the threat we received from the staff upon our arrival at the hotel. When we first arrived, the staff threatened us that if any one of us lost our room key and needed a new one, they would not provide us one. Instead, they would evict our entire group from the hotel, which is not stated in the reservation policies. In addition, when we entered the hotel we were met with glares from the hotel staff even though we did not enter loudly or disrupt anyone in the lobby. When we asked politely to store our bags, we were glared at by the staff and told we needed to wait for the manager to come back. We asked how long that would be and were told 5 minutes. It actually took 45 minutes. Also, when we arrived at the check in time, they did not have the rooms ready. Overall, the worst customer service I have ever received when traveling as a group of college students.

**Decent for the price, but wouldn’t be my first choice.** The biggest pluses of this hotel are the affordable rates and excellent location. It’s within walking distance to many attractions, and if walking isn’t an option, both the L and the Metra stations are just a 5-minute walk away. However, the facilities are very dated, and the elevator didn’t inspire much confidence. The amenities were very limited, with no breakfast, which is unusual for most Best Westerns. I’d stay here again if I had no other options, but it would be my last resort.
