We booked this hotel ...

We booked this hotel during the St. Patrick's weekend and got a good deal on the price. Surprisingly cheaper than all Airbnbs in the area. We went, checked in and we were told the breakfast will be between 7 and 9 am in the lobby. Took the room keys, parked the car in a nearby public parking, and finally we went to the room. Everything was fine except there were no water bottles in the room. No big deal, we could ask reception. Except there was no contact number for reception on the phone in room. Anyhow, we left to explore the city, came back in night and slept off. Next day, we went for breakfast to find it was mainly coffee, danish pastries, protein bars and limited cupcakes. We're not big on breakfast so we were fine. Next we got ready, and before leaving, I put up the sign to "Make the Room". We returned around 5 pm for a short break in our day and it wasn't made. I went to the reception while going out again and requested for it to be cleaned. The guy at the reception said they don't clean the rooms but they do it on requests that are made a day before at the reception. I was also informed that receptionist informs each guest of this during check-in. I was also told the sign on the my door means nothing. However, I wasn't told anything like this and the same person had checked me in. Anyhow, I said I still need the towels, I'm going out please get them changed. We returned finally to call it a night at 11 pm and found the room in the exact same condition. I went down to explain the whole story to the lady on reception, she was nice enough to now take my cleaning request for the next day and sent a set of towels to my room almost immediately. I wish the information was provided accurately so I could have ignored the hassle and if I put up sign without making a request a day in advance, they could have contacted me for why I put it up. All I can say is that I had some positives and some negatives but for the price I paid, it was worth it.
