The staff were always ...

The staff were always available to us and friendly. The location is great with everything that we wanted to see and do were very close-by. Get the CURB app for cabs. The extended room is worth it and had great views - saw both sunrise and sunset. The bathroom was just ok with a constant fan always on and the tub didn’t drain well. The air conditioning was excellent. They have no breakfast but Paris baguette is excellent and attached to hotel. The fitness room is horrible and needs some cleaning and working machines- only real issue was the fitness room otherwise great service and good value for a fantastic city.

Not a bad hotel ...

Not a bad hotel on the budget, with my family we didn't go over ours. We were benefited from a free night and a free upgrade so that helped. I would still stay here, for the location being able to walk a lot of the places we wanted to go, and views were pretty solid, again for the price. The hotel could benefit from a deep clean/upgrades, but then the price would go up, not to mention it's Chicago, high traffic hotel, so I'll give grace. You can see the Willis and Navy Pier from the room if you get the right side. Would recommend more solo/buddy trips, but we did fine.

Certainly not the newest ...

Certainly not the newest or the best, but it is safe, comfortable and in a great location. There were some areas of carpet in hallways that were unraveling and our room had a broken towel rack that was "repaired" with clear packing tape. Mostly cosmetic/age related defects. The walls are thin. Rooms have heavy doors so you hear them slam a lot. Teens in room next door were up and talking around 3 AM which wasn't fun. I can't say they were obnoxiously loud but could be easily heard through the adjoining wall. The A/C unit was great and almost was too cold. Showers were hot with a lot of pressure. The bed was comfortable but it would be nice to have bigger pillows. Plenty of space in the room and great lighting. When booking, we liked parking was available. But it was sold out upon checking in. We had to park a block away in a garage but it turned out to be cheaper than the $52 per day rate for the hotel garage. The best thing about the place is location. Easily walkable to the parks and museums as well as a 20ish minute walk to soldier field. Bus and train transport is readily accessible getting you anywhere in the city you want to go. And there are many good dining options. We did not try the restaurant attached to the hotel (they give a $10 breakfast voucher there) nor the Paris Baguette bakery (which offered a discount with room key).
